Woman in the Salten Sea
2003-06
Conte on paper

The water had to wash over me,
envelop me entirely,
before I could finish this picture.
It came from a dream, near and far.
On a train, he was going away.
He held our daughter in his arms.
I rapped on the window but they were sleeping.
They did not awaken.
They went up high,
over a mountain.
I ran miles after them.
Through two tall buildings,
at the top,
where a strange man interacted with drugs and sex for sale.
When I came down, from over the top, to the other side,
I found a forest of trees.
I walked thru.
Below me was a Sea,
where I was overwhelmed and washed up by the water.
The train rode away into the distance.
Thankfully you were left behind.
